Newcastle Jets v Adelaide United: match preview
It is nearing make or break time for Newcastle Jets, who host Adelaide United this Friday afternoon (5.00pm AEDT) requiring a win to keep their bid for Finals Series football alive.
Newcastle sit seventh on the competition ladder, seven points adrift of fourth-placed Melbourne Victory, and enter Friday's crunch game with Adelaide on the back of three consecutive defeats.
Adelaide, meanwhile, have endured a campaign tainted with misfortune. The Reds looked on course for their first win of the season last weekend only to be pegged back by a stoppage time penalty from Perth Glory midfielder Morgan Andrews, resulting in a 2-2 draw.
A win for the Lady Reds would see them move level on four points with Newcastle.
