And the Caltex Socceroos midfielder marked his third appearance since returning from the FIFA World Cup™ with a coolly dispatched penalty in the eighth minute.

Diego Falcinelli restored parity for Bologna early in the second half but a bullet header in the dying stages from Steve Mounie clinched another solid pre-season result for the Terriers.

Mooy was one of three members of the starting eleven to continue in the second half with manager David Wagner aiming to progress the 27-year-old’s match fitness ahead of Huddersfield’s Premier League opener against Chelsea on Sunday 12 August (kick off 12:00am AEST).

Wagner would likely have been pleased with the Australian’s performance against the Italian side, with Mooy pulling the strings as usual before being replaced by Juninho Bacuna in the 63rd minute.

The Terrier’s fan favourite had returned to action with a late cameo against Jamie Maclaren’s Darmstadt on July 23, before playing the first half of Huddersfield’s 3-1 win over Lyon last Thursday.

The club will play one more pre-season friendly in Austria against German outfit RB Leipzig on Saturday morning (kick off 1:00am AEST).
