Australia got off to a great start when after a shot from outside the box by Jessica Waterhouse rebounded off the cross bar and provided an easy tap in for Afrikah Mcgladrigan to score the first goal of the game in the 11th minute.
The score was doubled in the 28th minute after a neat finish by Sunny Franco from a cross by Angela Beard on the left wing.
The Australians added another goal just before the half time break when Franco broke down the right to delivered a pinpoint cross to Beard at the back post, who had a great first touch to take her inside her defender and finished calmly at back post.
Australia continued the onslaught early in the second half when Franco ran onto a long pass behind the defence by Sophie Nenadovic on the left. Franco beat the defence to the ball and placed it pass the keeper into the back of the net to score her second.
Ten minutes later Australian added a fifth when Alexandra Chidiac drove through the midfield and played a neat one-two pass with Franco and slotted the ball into the net.
Australia eased off the pedal and New Zealand brought on the substitutes in hope of reversing the tide but the Australian defence held firm and Jessica Waterhouse capped off a fine performance with a 25m scorching shot into the top corner to give Australia a convincing 6-0 win.
After the match Australian coach Belinda Wilson was extremely pleased with both the performance and the result. “The team played very well and I was very pleased that we converted our chances today. These games have been great preparation for us as we prepare for the under-17 World Cup qualifiers in China next month.”
