Melbourne City book mouth-watering Semi Final clash with Newcastle Jets

Melbourne City have teed up a do-or-die Semi Final encounter with Newcastle Jets following their 2-0 win over Brisbane Roar at AAMI Park on Friday night.

Stefan Mauk and Nick Fitzgerald combined to lead the club beyond the Elimination Final stage for the third time in four seasons.

They will now face off against the Jets at McDonald Jones Stadium next Friday, 27 April to determine which team becomes the first to reach the 2018 Grand Final.

City have never appeared in the decider, having narrowly missed out to Melbourne Victory in 2014/15 and Adelaide United the following year.

And it won't be easy against a Newcastle outfit aiming to continue a superb campaign which saw them finish second on the ladder.

Kick-off in next Friday night's blockbuster is scheduled for 7:50pm AEST.
