Matildas Abroad: FA Cup headlines return to clubs

After donning the green and gold, the Westfield Matildas are back in club land with plenty of big matches on the horizon.

England 

The Westfield Matildas in England return to fourth round FA Cup action this upcoming weekend. 

Sam Kerr's Chelsea host London City while Emily van Egmond, Mackenzie Arnold, and West Ham will take on Chichester City. 


Alanna Kennedy's Tottenham travel to Reading, Everton and Hayley Raso play Durham, and the Aussies at Arsenal will come up against Gillingham. 

The all FA WSL tie of Brighton and Bristol rounds out the Australians in FA Cup action. 

France 

Round 19 of the French league gets underway with Laura Brock's Guingamp traveling to Fleury 91 and Mary Fowler's Montpellier playing away to Issy FF. 

The teams sit fifth and sixth respectively on the table. 


Ellie Carpenter's Lyon will have to contend with the second leg of their UEFA Women's Champions League quarter final against fellow French side PSG before taking on Le Havre mid-week. 

The winner of that Lyon v PSG tie will face Barcelona in a Champions League semi final. 

Sweden 

The Swedish Damallsvenskan begins this weekend with a few Westfield Matildas in the league.  Clare Polkinghorne and Emily Gielnik will kickstart their time at Vittsjö against Piteå.


Elise Kellond-Knight signed a 3-year deal with Hammarby as she inches closer to her full return to fitness after her ACL injury. Her side will take on Westfield Matildas debutante Dylan Holmes' BK Häcken - last season's champions. 

Netherlands 

Kyah Simon and Amy Harrison's PSV take on Ajax in the semi final of the KNVB Cup. Harrison was unable to join the latest Westfield Matildas camp due to COVID-19 protocols, while Simon continues recovery from injury.

Rest of Europe 

Aivi Luik, fresh off her player of the match performance against the Netherlands, returns to Sevilla in Spain as they take on Atletico Madrid. Beattie Goad is back in Germany. Her SV Meppen will face SGS Essen. 

Alex Huynh's Napoli will play AC Milan in the Serie A Femminile, while Indiah-Paige Riley Fortuna Hjorring will take on Brøndby in the Championship round of the Elitedivisionen in Denmark.
