Mark Milligan appointed inaugural Macarthur FC captain

Former Socceroos captain Mark Milligan will lead Macarthur FC in their inaugural A-League season after being handed the armband for the 2020/21 campaign.

Milligan, who made 80 international appearances for the Socceroos, will be aiming to pass on his knowledge and expertise to the Bulls after he was named their inaugural captain.

The former Socceroos skipper will add a wealth of experience to the A-League’s newest side with his nineteen matches leading the Green & Gold undoubtedly going to benefit his new side as they prepare for uncharted waters.

The 35-year-old is the eighth-most capped Socceroo, having spent 13 years in the national team setup where he went to four FIFA World Cups, played in three Asian Cups, a Confederations Cup, and an Olympic Games before calling time on his international career last year.

Milligan will also be supported by some familiar faces with former Socceroos trio Tommy Oar, Adam Federici and Ivan Franjic all lining up alongside the Bulls’ new captain when they begin their season, with the side spearheaded by former Socceroos assistant coach Ante Milicic.

The new A-League season begins on December 27 but Milligan’s first game with the armband will come on Sunday afternoon when they take on Camden Tigers in their first ever match.
