Mariners injury blow: Oar to miss season with knee injury

Central Coast Mariners attacker Tommy Oar has been ruled out for the remainder of the Hyundai A-League season, the club confirmed today.

The 27-year-old hyper-extended his knee in Sunday's 1-1 stalemate with Sydney FC, resulting in a posterior capsule ligament sprain.

Oar is set for an estimated 10-12 week spell on the sidelines and has already started his rehabilitation with the Mariners' medical staff.

“I am really disappointed to not be able to play again this season,” Oar told the club's official website

“I know I’m in great hands with Dave McGinness and the medical team at the Mariners, so I am putting my full focus into getting myself healthy and fully fit for next season.

“Obviously I will be trying to support the boys for the remainder of this season and helping in any way I can around the club.

Oar joined the Mariners back in September after penning a two-year deal.

He has played 11 matches for the Gosford club this season.
