Luongo seals deadline day switch to Sheffield Wednesday

Caltex Socceroo midfielder Massimo Luongo has made a switch to Championship club Sheffield Wednesday.

The 42-cap Australian international joined Wednesday from Queens Park Rangers for an undisclosed fee on deadline day, becoming the club's fifth new addition of the window.

Luongo, 26, had been a key first-team player for London-based Rangers since 2015, when they acquired his services from Swindon Town.

The 2015 AFC Asian Cup winner would go on to make just shy of 150 appearances for QPR, scoring 10 goals.

"QPR will always feel like home to me," Luongo wrote on Instagram after his move had been confirmed.

"Thank you for accepting me and my family and making us feel apart of this club. We will always remember the electric atmospheres at Loftus Road."

Luongo will wear shirt number 21 for the Owls, who are expected to fight for Premier League promotion this season.
