Lions & Olympic stars dominate NPL QLD awards

Daniel Leck and Mariel Hecher were the big winner after claiming two major honours apiece at the recent Football in Queensland Awards.

Olympic FC attacker, Leck, was recognised as both the NPL Queensland Player of the Year and the Young Player of the Year after a stellar campaign – netting 16 goals to help the Brisbane Club reach a third straight Grand Final.

Olympic also claimed another major honour on the night with Ben Cahn named NPL Men’s Coach of the Year after guiding his side to the league’s best defensive return of conceding just 21 goals in the regular season.

However, historic Men’s and Women’s Championship double winners Lions FC were certainly not overlooked – with their total of 4 awards the most of any club.
