Lions FC hit six to reach the Round of 16

A second-half goal fest from Lions FC ensured their passage to the FFA Cup Round of 16 with a 6-0 win over Casuarina FC on Tuesday.

Jordan Farina came out with a brace as five different goalscorers found the back of the net for the NPL Queensland side at Lions Stadium.

Former A-League striker Jean Carlos Solorzano, Zach Maltby and Alex Fiechtner also found the net, but the goal of the night came from Finn Beakhurst.

It was a difficult night for Casuarina but they did the Northern Territory proud, holding firm especially in the first 45 minutes where they held Lions FC to just a 1-0 advantage at the break.

Farina opened the scoring in the 21st minute after Lions tested Casuarina early, but the away side has some opportunities to find an equaliser, before those hopes were dashed by a Solorzano tap-in.

Beakhurst scored a screamer to make it 3-0, before Farina scored a fourth with a composed finish from inside the box.

Maltby made it five with a clinical finish on the run, before substitute Fiechtner rounded out the result with 11 minutes in regular time remaining.

It could have been even more if it were not for the efforts of Casuarina substitute goalkeeper Nelson Nheu, who came on and made a number of fantastic saves.

The FFA Cup continues on Sunday 26 September when Floreat Athena host A-League side Adelaide United at E & D Litis Stadium in Perth!
