Kerr confident in Grand Final battle with Westfield Matildas team-mates

Sam Kerr believes Sydney FC's inside knowledge on her game can be flipped in her favour when she faces up to familiar foes in the Westfield W-League Grand Final.

Perth Glory's superstar striker will be the centre of attention at Nestrata Jubilee Stadium on Saturday as she attempts to fire her hometown club to their first Championship triumph.

The 25-year-old scored a sublime hat-trick to see off Melbourne Victory in the Semi Finals and seal a spot in the decider against the side with whom she spent two successful seasons between 2012 and 2014.

Several of Kerr's former Sydney and current Westfield Matildas team-mates are involved in the Sky Blues setup and appear as well equipped as anybody to stop the Golden Boot winner.

But the prolific forward thinks the shared insights can equally work to her advantage.

"I think it goes both ways," Kerr said.

"I've played and trained on Alanna Kennedy – who I'll be facing up against – probably a million times.

"She knows what I'm good at and what I'm bad at and it goes the same for me.

"I think it will be a fun game, a really enjoyable one, and I think it will be a really strong showing from both teams."

Kerr has been linked with a move to Europe in recent days but the Australian international played down talk surrounding her future beyond an upcoming stint with Chicago Red Stars in the NWSL.

For now, the Glory skipper is squarely focused on providing Perth with what she views as a key ingredient to Grand Final greatness.

"I think if we score first we put ourselves in a really good position," she said.

"Obviously our front three is playing really well at the moment and linking up well, so hopefully we can score a few goals.

"I think our defence in the last two weeks has really held their own and made it okay for us to run amok up there.

"Hopefully everyone can have a good game but I think the first goal is really, really important in this final."
