Keogh and Kilkenny on target as Glory rediscover mojo against Newcastle

Perth Glory re-asserted their claim for Hyundai A-League silverware in a commanding 2-0 triumph over Newcastle Jets in Sunday's Hyundai A-League clash.

Glory entered the clash off the back of consecutive goal-less stalemates, but that two-match period looks more of a blip than a cause for concern as brilliant Andy Keogh and Neil Kilkenny goals either side of half time established an unassailable two-goal buffer.

Tony Popovic's side retain their four-point advantage at the Hyundai A-League summit as a result, and it took just 15 minutes for Perth to snap their barren spell in front of goal through Keogh's ninth of the campaign.

It was a poacher's finish for the Irishman, teed up by Diego Castro, who had scampered in behind the Jets defence to cushion a perfectly-weighted ball over the top by Neil Kilkenny.

Glory had their mojo back, and only two good stops from Glen Moss kept the Western Australians out, with the Jets' Kiwi shot-stopper denying Fabio Ferreira one-on-one and tipping away Jason Davidson's curling effort.

There was absolutely nothing Moss could do about Perth's second though. Kilkenny was the architect of Glory's opener but doubled the lead with a gorgeous curling strike of entirely his own making, an effort that saw the midfielder drive toward the edge of the box before shimmying past Dimi Petratos and picking out the top corner.

Moss denied the impressive Castro with his legs and Ivan Franjic hit the post as Popovic's men snuffed out any chance of a Jets fightback late on.
