Joseph J Honeysett
A key influence on the development of soccer in Tasmania, Joseph Honeysett arrived in Hobart in the early 1900s. Honeysett was a retired British army colonel with a passion for the game. In 1910 he helped establish Tasmania's oldest club, South Hobart, and was founding secretary of the Tasmanian Football Association. Honeysett was manager of the Tasmanian team to visit NSW in 1912. He was instrumental in the commencement of state North versus South encounters, and helped expand the code throughout Tasmania.
