Joeys knocked out of semi-final at AFF Championships

The Joeys were beaten 2-0 by Vietnam overnight in their Asean Football Federation (AFF) Under-15 Championship in Thailand.

Key points

  • At the Chonburi Stadium, Trent Ostler had a good early chance to take the lead for Australia.
  • But Vietnam scored twice in three minutes to take the lead in the 29th minute courtesy of Nguyen Quoc Hoang and shortly after it was Vo Nguyen Hoang on target to beat keeper Oliver Kalac. 

What next? 

  • Australia face Malaysia in the three v four play-off on July 22
  • Vietnam face Thailand in the final on the same day.
