Ilso eyes goals as Sydney FC appear in confident Adelaide's crosshairs

Ken Ilso insists Adelaide United won't settle for anything less than three points at Jubilee Stadium on Sunday as they seek to narrow the gap to Sydney FC.

The Reds are buoyant after a season-best showing in the 2-0 midweek win over Melbourne Victory and have the top four in their sights approaching the midpoint of the season.

Though winless in the past seven Hyundai A-League meetings between the pair, Marco Kurz's men triumphed over the Sky Blues in the FFA Cup Final in October and now have the chance to move within a point of their opponents.

"We're going to be proud there and we're going to go for the three points," Ilso said.

"We're not coming to go down or play for a draw.

"We've had a couple of good games against Sydney. For us it's important that we take that good confidence [from the Victory performance] but also the experience we already have against Sydney.

"They're a very strong team. As we've seen in previous games they are very effective in front of goal. They score from very small chances.

"We have to play a very disciplined game."

Danish forward Ilso takes scoring form into the contest having broken his Coopers Stadium duck by netting Adelaide's second goal against Victory.

The 32-year-old intends to exploit the vulnerabilities which saw Sydney FC, without a clean sheet in nine games, concede three times in the first half of a 3-1 loss to leaders Perth Glory last time out.

"It was only my third goal, I want to be scoring a lot more," he said of Wednesday's strike.

"I want to keep scoring and getting more confidence. As a striker or a number 10 it's important to put the ball in the net.

"I'm going to Sydney to do that again."
