Melbourne Victory 1-2 Brisbane Roar FC

A clinical Brisbane Roar held off a fast-finishing Melbourne Victory to record a precious 2-1 win at AAMI Park to kick off the split round on Friday night Feb 9.

Victory, starting with James Troisi on the bench, were 2-0 down at the break thanks to goals from Maccarone and Holman. Roar were on fire.

Troisi did come on in the second half, and his thunderbolt in the final 10 minutes was one of the best all season, but it was too little too late for Kevin Muscat's men.

Melbourne City FC 0-4 Sydney FC

Sydney FC thumped Melbourne City in a fabulous advertisement for Hyundai A-League football and yet another reminder of the Sky Blues' machine-like class.

The league leaders were at their clinical best at Melbourne's AAMI Park, while Michael Zullo reminded new Caltex Socceroos coach Bert van Marwijk of his quality with a man of the match display.

Two goals to striker Bobo showcased the league-leaders' class, while Sydney FC's defence was at its mean best to register another clean sheet.

Western Sydney Wanderers FC 2-2 Newcastle Jets

Wanderers and Jets drew 2-2 in an entertaining clash at Spotless Stadium in Sydney.

A brace from the penalty spot by Wanderers marquee Oriol Riera was cancelled out by Dimi Petratos' extravagant drive and Andrew Nabbout's contender for goal of the season after he curled one with the outside of his boot from distance.

Wellington Phoenix 2-1 Perth Glory

A Roy Krishna-inspired Phoenix defeated Glory 2-1 with a winner in stoppage time.

It was 1-1 at the break after two excellent goals to starting XI debutant Sarpreet Singh for Phoenix and Diego Castro for Glory.

Glory dominated the second half and got their just reward after Castro was fouled in the box, but the Spaniard's Panenka penalty was saved by Tando Velaphi as the WA side spurned a golden chance to win the game.

Roy Krishna was subbed on in the second half and in a fairytale finish, his shot was diverted into the net inside stoppage time to help pull off an incredible win for the hosts.

Adelaide United 2-2 Central Coast Mariners

Ten-man United came back from two goals down - and a man down -  to draw 2-2 with Central Coast.

It was sensational theatre as the Reds brushed off a disappointing opening 55 minutes to storm back into the contest.

Jordan Elsey scored then George Blackwood equalised for the Reds who lost Ursan Gulum after 18 minutes.

The Mariners had taken a commanding 2-0 lead courtesy of Hoole's first-half strike and an OG to Ryan Strain after 53 mins before the home side's stirring comeback.
