Ibini, Fowler and Blissett on target for Westfield Young Matildas in Myanmar win

The Westfield Young Matildas are closing in on a 2019 AFC U-19 Women’s Championship place after defeating Myanmar 3-1 on Sunday evening (AEST).

Sydney FC star Princess Ibini broke the deadlock in the first half, before Mary Fowler – who scored five in Australia’s 11-1 win over Nepal on Friday – fired home her sixth goal of the tournament after the interval.

Myanmar pulled a goal back against the run of play through substitute Myat Noe Khin but Chelsea Blissett quelled any thoughts of a late turnaround with an 84th-minute free-kick.

Gary van Egmond’s side are comfortably top of Group A and simply need to avoid disaster against Uzbekistan – who beat Nepal 4-0 in the group's other Sunday evening match – on Tuesday to secure passage to the 2019 AFC U-19 Women’s Championship.
