Hinchinbrook Sports Club focused on FFA Cup debut

Poulton Park will be caught up in FFA Cup fever as Southern Districts Football Association outfit Hinchinbrook Sports Club travel South to take on Football St George’s Connells Point Rovers in round 1 of the Preliminary round of matches this Wednesday evening at 7pm.

It will be a special night for the visitors Hinchinbrook Sports Club who will make its FFA Cup debut.

Based in the tiny suburb of Ashcroft in Sydney’s Southwest, Hinchinbrook Sports Club have not had much to celebrate prior to 2020 with the squad eyeing out this match up as one of the biggest ever in the club’s history.

The squad comes into this matchup rejuvenated after many years of low table finishes.

They picked up silverware last year capturing a Grand Final win against the Bonnyrigg White Eagles FC in their local competition after a thrilling penalty shoutout win.

Head Coach Sebastian Cal has credited his squad’s recent success to the comradery and hard work they instilled upon themselves over the past year that has brought the squad together.

“Playing in the FFA Cup is something that doesn’t come every day.

“The boys earned this opportunity as prior to me coming to the side, the team finished in the bottom half of the table two years in a row.

“I am super proud of how we’ve turned the team’s fortunes around and won our local competition in 2020.

“Every player is key to our success and we will be doing all that we can to get through to round 2 of the Cup, the boys are focused and ready to go.”

Cal stated that his keeper Lorenzo Sanna, skipper Fernando de Azevedo, the new striking duo of Kwame Amoahene and Abraham Takriti as well as defenders Christian Felicce, Diego Franco, Tommy Ussia and Mario Kovacevic will be ones to watch out for on Wednesday.
