Wellington Phoenix midfield star Carlos Hernandez has been nominated for the ME Bank Green Card for Fairer Play award for the month of October.

Hernandez has been recognised for his actions during the team-s 1-1 draw with Western Sydney Wanderers in Parammatta.

Wanderers- Aaron Mooy was accidentally knocked out during the game and Hernandez moved quickly to Mooy-s assistance, showing obvious concern for his opponent-s welfare.

Throughout the Hyundai A-League season a panel made up of Adam Peacock, David Zdrilic and Damien de Bohun will each nominate one act of fair play, either on or off the field, for each calendar month.

The public will then have the opportunity to vote for the player they consider fairest, with the winning player for the month awarded $1000 to be donated to the grassroots football club of their choice.

The campaign will be supported through FFA digital communications channels, as well as a segment on the Fox Sports Sunday Night Shootout programme once a month.

At the end of the season fans will be able to vote for the annual winner from the six monthly winners. The player chosen will be awarded $10,000 to donate to their chosen grassroots club.

Hernandez joins Sydney FC's Marc Warren and Brisbane Roar's Besart Berisha as the nominees for the month of October. The winner will be announced on December 4 which allows a month for fans to vote.
