Grant: More to come from Glory slayers Sydney FC

Milestone man Rhyan Grant believes Sydney FC are on the right track under Steve Corica after becoming the first team to beat Perth Glory this season.

Adam Le Fondre and Daniel De Silva scored either side of half-time to give the Premiers a precious 2-1 away win on Friday night.

The result ended Perth's unbeaten start in the Hyundai A-League and pulled Corica's side back to within three points of top spot.

Right-back Grant, who was this week chosen in the Caltex Socceroos squad that will contest the AFC Asian Cup, had several reasons to celebrate as he marked his 10-year anniversary as a Sydney FC player in style.

The 27-year-old is confident the club are now back on course after slipping to successive home losses earlier this season.

"Definitely at periods during games we've played some really good football like we have the last couple of years," Grant told Fox Sports.

"It was always going to be tough backing up with Arnie leaving and Bimbi [Corica] coming in. We were very confident we could do it.

"I think all in all we're still doing quite well. We're not at our best but we're building. It's only a quarter of the way through the season.

"We know there's lots to come and we're going to build on that each week."

Sydney FC were comfortable for long spells at nib Stadium as their plan to subdue Glory's attacking weapons paid off in the form of a ninth consecutive victory over the Western Australia outfit, with only Chris Ikonomidis' late consolation causing a few rare moments of panic.

Grant cited his club's recent success in the fixture as instilling a strong sense of belief in the build-up.

"We've got a good record against Perth, especially coming here. In the last couple of years we've had the wood over them," he said.

"That gave us confidence coming into tonight and this week we concentrated on a bit more structure in defence.

"Obviously Perth are very good going forward and doing well this year so we knew we were up for a fight and we had to knuckle down with defence.

"I think we did that."
