Golgol Mebrahtu diagnosed with severe knee injuries

Golgol Mebrahtu will miss the rest of the season after he was diagnosed with medial collateral ligament and anterior cruciate ligament injuries.

Western Sydney Wanderers will be without forward Golgol Mebrahtu for the rest of the Hyundai A-League season after he was diagnosed with medial collateral ligament (MCL) and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries.

The Red and Black-s recent recruit will require a full knee reconstruction after being forced off only minutes into his Wanderers debut in the Sydney Derby.

Despite the set-back Mebrahtu is confident he will return stronger than ever.

“Injuries are not a pleasant thing and I-m extremely disappointed that it-s happened,” said Mebrahtu.

“Now I-m just looking ahead and planning on coming back bigger and stronger than I was before and doing everything I can to make that happen.”

With a strong support network around him and a positive outlook, Mebrahtu says he has the mental strength needed to bounce back successfully.

“I-ve got my family, friends, my teammates and all the staff at the club supporting me which keeps me in a good frame of mind and I-ll continue to go in a forward direction so I can be back as soon as possible.

While acknowledging that there will be tough times ahead, Mebrahtu-s ultimate goal of returning to the pitch will provide the drive needed get through any lows.

“I-m not one for dwelling on the past; what-s happened has happened so now I-m just looking ahead. I can-t wait to get back and play in front of our fans again and I wish the team all the success for this season.”
