Goalkeeping guru Juric joins Rudan at Western United

Western United have bolstered the support to new boss Mark Rudan with the appointment of ex-Australia international Frank Juric as goalkeeping coach.

The new Hyundai A-League outfit announced the capture of the former Bayer Leverkusen gloveman just hours after unveiling Rudan as their inaugural head coach.

Juric joins from Adelaide United, where he spent the past two seasons mentoring the talented Paul Izzo and his young deputy Daniel Margush.

The two-time Caltex Socceroo previously worked at Perth Glory and Melbourne Knights after hanging up the boots in 2009.

His playing career, more than a decade of which was spent in Germany, also included stints with Fortuna Dusseldorf and Hannover.

Juric served as one of Mark Schwarzer’s understudies at the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2001.

“Key signings Filip Kurto and James Delianov will greatly benefit from Frank’s coaching and draw on his past European, NSL and A-League experiences ahead of the club’s inaugural season,” Western United said in a statement on Twitter.

Former Bentleigh Greens boss John Anastasiadis and Central Coast Mariners great John Hutchinson are the other confirmed members of Rudan’s coaching staff.
