Caltex Socceroos defender Alex Gersbach will play his club football alongside compatriot Mustafa Amini after signing a deal with Danish side AGF Aarhus.
Gersbach has signed a three-year deal with the Danish Superliga outfit, making the move across from NAC Breda, who were relegated from the Eredivisie last season.
It means the 22-year-old will link up with fellow Caltex Socceroo Amini who is an established member of the AGF squad.
The ex-Sydney FC left-back has also had stints with Norwegian giants Rosenborg and French club Lens in recent years.
“From my time in Norway I know about Scandinavian football and the level, so when the opportunity arose, I wanted to go to the Super League and when AGF came on the pitch I was immediately interested,” Gersbach told AGF’s official website.
“I know Mustafa Amini from the national team and from him I've only heard good things about the club, the traditions, the coaches, the facilities and the supporters.
“I'm really glad it's been here and now I'm just looking forward to contributing and working hard for the team's success.”
AGF’s Sports Director Peter Christiansen added: “Alex holds tremendous speed, a huge engine and a positive approach to the game which means that both his offensive and defensive qualities can give us new dimensions in the game.”
Gersbach has played six times for the Caltex Socceroos, last appearing in a pre-AFC Asian Cup clash against Oman.
The new Danish Superliga season kicks off this weekend, with Gersbach and Amini’s first match away at Hobro on Tuesday, July 16 (kick-off 3am AEST).
Fellow Caltex Socceroo Awer Mabil and his FC Midtjylland open the campaign at home against Esbjerg on Saturday (3am AEST).
