It was tense, it was thrilling and it was dramatic. But the Westfield Matildas did what they had to in Thursday night’s 1-1 draw against China PR in the final match of their 2020 AFC Women's Olympic Qualifying group.

Emily van Egmond’s stoppage-time equaliser ensured Australia topped Group B and set up a winner-takes-all play-off against Vietnam next month for a place at Tokyo 2020.

Showing tremendous character to fight back after conceding with just four minutes left, van Egmond’s stunning strike led to scenes of pure jubilation and relief at full-time.
