FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™ fever will hit Sydney next Sunday when the official Women’s World Cup Trophy arrives in Australia on stop thirteen of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy Tour.
Between 12.00pm and 1.30pm at First Fleet Park next to Circular Quay Wharf, football fans will be able to view the handcrafted Trophy up close at a fan event which will include current, former, and future Westfield Matildas, as well as Australian football great & FIFA Legends Squad member, Mark Schwarzer.
The official FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy is currently on a two-month global journey that began in Paris in February, and which will conclude in the same city in May.
Already the Trophy has visited France, Jamaica, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, and the United States of America, and before arriving in Australia next weekend the much sought-after silverware will venture to Korea Republic, Japan, China, and Thailand.
Indeed, the official Women’s World Cup Trophy is set to arrive in Sydney from Bangkok, before moving on to Auckland, New Zealand.
Football Federation Australia (FFA) Chief Executive Officer, Mr David Gallop AM, said FFA is proud to have taken up the opportunity from FIFA to be part of the tour as excitement continues to build ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™.
“Having the official FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy in Australia next weekend will be a fantastic occasion and we encourage all supporters that are able to attend Sunday’s event in Sydney to make the most of the opportunity,” Gallop said.
“There are now less than three months until the start of the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™, and the visit of the official Trophy, as well as FIFA representatives including Caltex Socceroos legend Mark Schwarzer to our shores will be another milestone in the build-up to the tournament.
The arrival of the official FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy in Australia will also serve as a reminder of Australia’s bid to host the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Fans can #GetOnside with Australia’s bid to host the tournament in 2023 at AusBid2023.com.
