The most successful club in UWCL history having already won the title a record seven times in 2011, 2012, 2016-2020, Carpenter says that Lyon is ready to bring home the crown.

"Barcelona is a world-class team, they won last year and obviously, we won the year before that, so it's going to be a good battle," she said.

"You've got, in my opinion, the best two teams in Europe going up against each other and both teams are equally passionate about winning, so it will be about who wants it more on the day and who turns up."

This will be the tenth UEFA club final for Lyon, who is the first to achieve such a milestone.

"The vibe within our team is really good," Carpenter said.

"We've had a great season with the league and obviously the Champions League as well. We have great momentum at the moment and are building towards something special."

The defender spoke about how meaningful these types of matches are for women's football as a whole.

"We're going to be playing in front of a likely sold-out stadium at the Juventus field, which is an amazing setting. Just to have that stadium filled will be incredible and another amazing moment for women's football."

On a professional level, Carpenter explained that being part of a world-class team drives her to ensure that Lyon continue making history.

"Playing for Lyon has helped me a lot, both on and off the pitch," she shared.

"Playing with and learning from world-class players every day and defending some of the world's best strikers, is just going to make you a better footballer.

"It's a great environment that provides me with experiences you can't get anywhere else. I continue to thrive and get better every day and I feel so honoured to be part of such an amazing team and club," she continued.

"They have an incredible history, have won so many titles and have so much experience in these finals so I know that both myself and the team want to make the club proud.

"We want to keep Lyon's reign as the best women's club in Europe, so we're out to get our Champions League trophy that we didn't get last season.

"We're playing to regain our crown, it's going to be tough, but we're ready."
