E-League aces to fly the flag for Australia at FIFA eWorld Cup

Two of the E-League’s finest will be representing Australia in the FIFA eWorld Cup at London’s O2 Arena.

Thirty-two of the planet's best FIFA19 gamers - 16 on Xbox, 16 on Playstation - will go head-to-head in the finals of the world’s largest football gaming tournament between August 2 and August 4.

The E-League Playstation champion Mark Brijeski, @FUTWIZMarko, who represented Sydney FC in the 2019 season, qualified as the 16th and final seed for the esports extravaganza.

The Team FUTWIZ player will match up against Argentina’s world number one Nicolas Villalba, @nicolas99fc, aka ‘the Iceman’, in addition to other Group C rivals from Germany, Brazil, Portugal Denmark and the Netherlands.

“I had a lot of results go my way, I was pretty lucky as well,” admitted Marko, following the FIFA 19 Global Series Playoffs in Berlin.

“The feeling is crazy, this is what I’ve been working for for ages and I can’t put into words how much it means to me.”

Melbourne City’s Xbox player Marcus Gomes, @MarcusGomes, will be joining his fellow Aussie on the flight to the United Kingdom.

Marcus has been drawn in Group B and will go up against opponents from France, Germany, Canada, Spain and FIFA eWorld Cup 2018 champion Mossad Aldossary, @Msdossary, from Saudi Arabia.

After the group stage, eight qualifiers from each console advance to their respective quarter-finals, semi-finals and grand final.

The XBox winner will battle the Playstation winner over two legs, one on each console, to crown the 2019 FIFA eWorld Cup champion.
