Disappointment for Vukovic in Belgium Cup final

Caltex Socceroos gloveman Danny Vukovic has suffered heartbreak in the Belgium Cup final, going down 1-0 after extra-time against Standard Liege.

In a tense and cagey final, both sides struggled to create chances as scores were locked at 0-0 after 90 minutes.

But Liege struck the killer blow just two minutes into extra-time.

Mehdi Carcela delivered a delightful cross to the far post where Renaud Emond was on hand to head home from close range, giving Vukovic no chance.

Genk had one big chance to equalise and force a penalty shootout with a powerful header from Joseph Aidoo, but Liege keeper Jean-Francois Gillet somehow kept it out.

And a frustrating night for Genk ended with defender Bojan Nastic picking up a red card in the final minute.

Having won the Belgium Cup four times before, this is the first time Genk have lost a decider.
