Caltex Socceroos defender Degenek helped his Al-Hilal side keep a clean sheet in a 1-0 victory on the road against Al-Ettifaq.
Brazilian star Carlos Eduardo scored the decisive strike in the 51st minutes as the defending champions downed their 11th-placed opposition to stay in touching distance.
The result ensured the title race goes to the last day of the season as ladder leaders Al-Nassr beat Al-Hazm 3-0 thanks to Abderrazak Hamdallah’s hat-trick.
Degenek’s side trail their Riyadh city rivals by a single point, with an inferior goal difference, and with one game each to play.
Al-Hilal will require a victory against third-placed Al-Shabab, and hope Al-Nassr slip up against already-relegated Al-Batin, in order to lift a third straight Saudi Pro League trophy.
Defeat for Milligan in Scotland
Mark Milligan and Hibernian suffered a 1-0 defeat at Kilmarnock in the penultimate game of the Scottish Premier League season.
Eamonn Brophy’s 32nd-minute penalty was the only difference between the sides, with Hibs set to finish in fifth place in the table.
Milligan’s side sit three points ahead of fellow Edinburgh club Hearts, but their superior goal difference means they are all but guaranteed to finish ahead of their city rivals.

The Ivory Coast international Kalou converted a stoppage time penalty to make it 4-3 and snatch three points for the Old Lady, clinching a tenth-place finish in Germany's top flight.
