The Caltex Socceroos have a surprise backer to progress to the Round of 16 at the FIFA World Cup™, with Jose Mourinho tipping Australia to come second behind France.
With Denmark and Peru the other two contenders in Group C, Mourinho declared he’s backing a “surprise pick” instead of the 11th ranked South Americans and 12th ranked Scandinavians.

“In Group C, I think France is going to finish first,” Mourinho said in part of a Russia Today FIFA World Cup™ predictor promo.
“It’s a big fight to finish second but I’ll go for a surprise – come on Australia, lets finish second.”
Mourinho’s prediction, if it came to fruition, sees the Caltex Socceroos take on Argentina in the Round of 16, with France to face the runners up of Group D, Nigeria.
