WATCH: Maclaren nets classy double for City in FFA Cup 2019

Jamie Maclaren was back with a bang on Wednesday night for Melbourne City.

The Caltex Socceroos striker notched two goals in the Hyundai A-League club's 3-1 defeat of South Australia giants Campbelltown City to book their ticket to the FFA Cup 2019 Round of 16.

Maclaren broke the deadlock with a clever hooked finish from the tightest of angles at the back post, after a cross from Uruguayan recruit Javier Cabrera - the first competitive strike in the era of new City boss Erick Mombaerts.

Campbelltown equalised via Iain Fyfe's penalty before former Premier League winger Craig Noone blasted City back into a 2-1 lead with a world-class left footed effort from range.

Mombaerts' side had to dig deep against the reigning National Premier League Champions in the second half, but Maclaren was there to seal the deal late on, nodding home Adrian Luna's cross at the back post in stoppage time.

Maclaren, 26, scored five goals in nine appearances for City last season after joining from 2. Bundesliga team SV Darmstadt 98.
