City deny Victory at the death in dramatic Melbourne Derby draw

Melbourne Victory's six-game winning streak came to a dramatic end as Dario Vidosic scored in the 92nd minute to snatch a 1-1 draw for Melbourne City in a breathless derby on Saturday.

Vidosic popped up to head in Scott Jamieson's cross just as all hope appeared lost for Warren Joyce's side, who trailed to Ola Toivonen's 55th-minute volley.

Victory left out marquee man Keisuke Honda as an injury precaution and their inability to hold on means Perth Glory remain a point clear atop the Hyundai A-League ladder.

An open start brought opportunities at both ends in the first 15 minutes with Terry Antonis guiding the most inviting over the crossbar.

Vidosic, Ritchie de Laet and Luke Brattan all threatened for City, although they were indebted to Eugene Galekovic for his one-on-one denial of James Troisi in the 34th minute.

Lawrence Thomas then seized his turn for some goalkeeping heroics late in a pulsating first half, advancing off his line and pouncing on Lachie Wales' poor touch.

It ultimately took an outstanding Kosta Barbarouses cross for the breakthrough to be made.

The New Zealand international brilliantly picked out his team-mate and Toivonen was afforded the simple task of volleying home Victory's 600th Hyundai A-League goal.

Kevin Muscat's men seemed to be easing towards top spot and a seventh straight win until deep into stoppage time, when City skipper Jamieson overlapped on the left and lifted a high ball into the box for Vidosic to force a rare Melbourne Derby draw.
