Canberra United v Adelaide United: match preview

Finals football may be out of reach for Canberra United and Adelaide United but both sides will be keen to finish the Westfield W-League 2019/20 Season with a bang.

And that starts with Sunday’s clash at McKellar Park in the nation’s capital, in a match that will be show LIVE and FREE on ABC TV.

Canberra will be hoping the competition’s break due to the Westfield Matildas’ Olympic qualifiers will bring about a change of luck, having lost their last four matches on the bounce.

That poor run – which saw the side fail to score a goal – saw the club opt to not renew coach Heather Garriock’s contract, giving United extra motivation to perform.

The Reds, who lost 2-1 to Canberra when the two sides met earlier this season, are currently on the bottom of the Westfield W-League ladder.

But they showed in their Round 11 win over Western Sydney Wanderers they are a dangerous side and will want all three points to help their quest to avoid the wooden spoon.
