Caltex Socceroos World Cup opponent watch: electric Eriksen

Denmark superstar Christian Eriksen fired a warning to the Caltex Socceroos ahead of this year’s FIFA World Cup with a superb performance for Tottenham in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday morning (AEDT).

Eriksen scored Tottenham’s second-half equaliser with a fizzing free-kick as Spurs came away from Turin with a 2-2 draw in the first leg of their Round of 16 clash against Juventus.

On the day before his 26th Birthday, the Danish playmaker wrong-footed Juve’s legendary keeper Gianluigi Buffon with a cracking strike into the bottom-left corner of the net.

It capped a mesmerising display from Eriksen, who also set up great chances for teammates Harry Kane and Dele Alli with pinpoint crosses.

He also went close to a goal in the first-half with a rasping drive from distance which Buffon could only claw away to safety.

Eriksen’s form won’t go unnoticed by the Caltex Socceroos, who will face-off against Denmark in the second group match in Russia in June.

He’s been one of Spurs’ most consistent players in the Premier League all season, scoring seven goals and providing six assists from 26 appearances.
