Needing only a point to confirm their spot in the next stage of qualifying, Ange Postecoglou’s troops were in ruthless mood against the Harry Redknapp-coached visitors.

Tim Cahill scored his 46 th and 47 th international goals in the first half as Australia led 3-0 at the break, with Robbie Kruse setting up all the goals.

Rogic and Luongo put the icing on the cake after the break to cap another emphatic display in the Harbour City.

Caltex Socceroos 4-1 Kuwait

January 9, 2015 at AAMI Park

In the opening match of 2015 AFC Asian Cup, Australia fell behind inside the opening 10 minutes before taking control.

Youngster Massimo Luongo was the catalyst, edging the Caltex Socceroos in front before the break after Cahill got the 33 rd minute equaliser.

It was one-way traffic in the second half and two more goals came, first through a Jedinak spot-kick before Troisi iced the result in the final minute.

Four days later in Sydney and Australia scored another four goals in a clinical performance against the Omani’s.

Matt McKay got the opener before man-of-the-match Robbie Kruse doubled the lead and Milligan added a third before the break.

Juric scored a fourth in the second half as the Caltex Socceroos booked their spot in the last eight of the Asian Cup with ease.

June 11, 2013 at Etihad Stadium

Needing two wins from their final two qualifiers to reach Brazil, Mark Bresciano eased nerves with a 15 th -minute opener.

Robbie Kruse had two assists and scored one himself, while skipper Lucas Neill rounded out the result with his first international goal.

A dominant display and plenty of goals in front of almost 45,000 fans in Melbourne.
