Cahill’s classy act to help Aussie fan nab Caltex Socceroos tickets

Olympian and 2016 Rio gold medallist Chloe Esposito is more than just your average Caltex Socceroos fan.

But when the modern pentathlete shared her anguish on Twitter about being unable to purchase tickets to Australia’s upcoming pre-FIFA World Cup™ friendly against Hungary, little did she expect the response she’d receive.

Esposito, who trains out of Budapest, wasn’t able to nab a ticket to Saturday’s game between the Caltex Socceroos and Hungary – kick-off at 1.30am AEST on Sunday, live on Fox Sports and Network Ten.

So she decided to put a call out for help, only for all-time record goalscorer Tim Cahill to produce a classy act of support for the Aussie Olympian.

“Been driving around Budapest for the last 3 hours trying to get tickets to the @Socceroos game against Hungary,” Esposito posted on her official Twitter account.

“[Apparently] can't buy them because not a Hungarian citizen [and] also can't purchase online.

“Just want to feel a little Aussie spirit for the weekend.”

It took Cahill just over 20 minutes to respond, offering to provide Esposito and her family and friends tickets to the match at Groupama Arena.

The Caltex Socceroos will finalise their FIFA World Cup™ preparations against Hungary on Sunday morning at Groupama Arena in Budapest, kick off at 1.30am AEST live on Fox Sports and Network Ten.
