Australia's Tim Cahill is the third highest-paid player in Major League Soccer this season, with former EPL talent takes up the three highest-paid spots.

Socceroos star Tim Cahill is the third highest-paid player in US Major League Soccer, raking in $US3.625 million ($A3.55 million) this season.

The cashed up Red Bulls not only have Cahill on the big bucks but also Thierry Henry, who is the highest earner in the league with Robbie Keane of the LA Galaxy in second.

Henry remains No.1 despite a drop in his base salary from $US5 million to $US3.75 million, according to figures released on Monday by the MLS Players Union.

Keane has the highest base salary at $US4 million, an increase from $US2,917,241 last season.

Red Bulls midfielder Cahill was third ($US3.5 million base), followed by Galaxy midfielder Landon Donovan ($US2.5 million base and total).

Cahill has scored three goals in his last two games for the Red Bulls.
