Cahill scores on return for Millwall in U23s

Caltex Socceroos striker Tim Cahill got his name on the scoresheet to help Millwall Under-23s to a thrilling win in the Professional Development League overnight.

Cahill, playing in his first match since joining the Championship club last week, netted his side’s second goal in a 3-2 win over Coventry City.

The 38-year-old fired home from close range to give Millwall a 2-1 advantage in the first half.

It was Cahill’s first goal for Millwall since leaving the club back in 2004.

Australia’s all-time leading scorer hadn’t played since parting ways with Melbourne City in early December.

The Aussie secured a move to the club in order to boost his playing time ahead of a potential fourth World Cup appearance in June.

And he could make his first appearance for the senior team this weekend when Millwall host Cardiff City.

Earlier, fellow Aussie and former Newcastle Jets striker Kristian Brymora scored the opener for the Lions.
