Bulleen Lions and Moreland Zebras qualify for FFA Cup Round of 32

Two more teams have booked their spots in the FFA Cup Round of 32 after a couple of gripping matches in Victoria on Wednesday night.

Bulleen Lions held off the stern challenge of St Albans to progress after a 3-1 win at the Veneto Club.

The win was set up after the Lions made a dream start, scoring twice inside the first five minutes.

Ben Everson put Bulleen in front with a tidy finish from close range after just three minutes, before Eli Luttmer doubled the advantage in a flash with a sensational header.

An end-to-end contest was set for a grandstand finish as St Albans pulled a goal back with 10 minutes left via a Deji Omoboye header.

But the Lions made things safe in stoppage time.

Josh Knight both won – and then converted – a penalty to spark jubilant scenes among Bulleen players, officials and supporters.

In the other match, Moreland Zebras won a tense battle against Altona Magic to advance with a 1-0 victory.

The Zebras, who fell at this hurdle 12 months ago, wouldn’t be denied this time around and produced a courageous performance at Paisley Park.

Bulleen and Moreland now join Melbourne Knights and Hume City as Victoria’s four Member Federation representatives.

There’s now just two more spots to be decided, which will come from the winners of final games in South Australia and Northern Territory over the next week.
