Betty Hoar

A pioneer of women's soccer in Victoria, Betty Hoar has enjoyed a long and illustrious involvement with the national women's soccer body. Beginning in 1974 she has played an active role with every Victorian women's management committee. In 1979 Hoar was elected to the national association as treasurer, a position she held until 1986. She remained on the board in various other positions. Over a 10-year period, Hoar managed Australian teams to New Zealand, Hawaii, New Caledonia and Dallas. In 1984 she was awarded Life Membership of the Victorian Women's Association and the Australian Women's Association. She was awawrded the Australian Sports medal in 2000 and named to the Victorian Soccer Federation the following year.
