Ben Halloran ruled out of Socceroos squad

Ben Halloran has been ruled out of the Socceroo-s international friendly with Ecuador in London on Wednesday night due to a hip injury with the uncapped striker replaced by Brett Holman.

Halloran was under an injury cloud and following a scan this week and discussions between Socceroos medical staff and Halloran-s club (Fortuna Dusseldorf) it was decided to allow the 21-year-old to remain in Germany to continue treatment.

“Ben was under a cloud and we received some further information about his injury, which showed it was in Ben-s best interest that he was ruled out of the game,” said Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou. “It-s a shame for Ben because he deserved the opportunity to make an impression at the camp and we will continue to watch him in the lead up to the World Cup.

“We have brought in Brett Holman and I look forward to having Brett in the camp and for the Ecuador game. He has proven himself on the international stage and it will be good to get Brett into the group so he can get a feel for what we are trying to achieve.”
