Behich joins Sainsbury in exciting PSV switch

Aziz Behich has joined fellow Caltex Socceroos defender Trent Sainsbury at PSV Eindhoven after completing a dream move from Bursaspor.

Left-back Behich became the Eredivisie champions' second Australian signing in the space of a month when he put to paper on a four-year deal on Saturday morning (AEST).

The Eredivisie switch comes on the back of a fine FIFA World Cup where he clearly impressed new PSV boss Mark van Bommel, who served as an assistant to Bert van Marwijk in Russia.

Behich, 27, has firmly established his European football credentials across four full seasons in Turkey.

The attack-minded former Hyundai A-League player cemented a first-team spot at Bursaspor in 2014 and went on to make 121 appearances in the Super Lig.

He chipped in with an impressive five goals last term and appears ready-made for the UEFA Champions League, the group stage for which PSV qualified after defeating BATE Borisov 3-0 on Thursday night (6-2 on aggregate).

Van Bommel's men will now enter the UEFA Champions League Group Stage, and come up against some European powerhouses: Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Tottenham.

Behich is likely to compete with Netherlands international Nick Viergever for PSV's left-back berth ahead of his possible involvement for Australia at AFC Asian Cup 2019.
