Australian officials' chance to impress

A trio of Australian referees are in preparation for the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup, with Brazil 2014 the ultimate goal.

While the Qantas Young Socceroos have been preparing for the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup being held in Turkey next month, Australian referees Ben Williams, Matthew Cream and Hakan Anaz have been appointed to officiate at this tournament.

The refereeing trio are on the list of prospective candidates being considered for selection for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Their appointment to the Under 20s is another step in this selection process and follows on from their success at the 2012 Olympic Football Tournament in London.

Prior to arriving in Turkey, the trio will control a Round of 16 match this week in the Asian Champions League, followed by a crucial World Cup Asian Qualifier in Group A.

Their appointment further emphasises the high regard FIFA has for Australian referees.
