Australia U-23's goalkeeper Tom Glover re-signs with Melbourne City

Australia U-23's shot-stopper Tom Glover has signed on with A-League side Melbourne City for an additional two seasons beyond the 2020/21 campaign.

The 22-year-old has made 15 appearances for Australia U-23's since 2017 and was a mainstay in goals as Graham Arnold's side secured qualification for the Tokyo Olympics in January 2020.

At club level, the former Tottenham Hotspur and Central Coast Mariners goalkeeper has made 17 appearances for Melbourne City.

He broke into the first team during the 2019-20 campaign, and built some strong form after the A-League restart when he was named July/August Nominee for Young Footballer of the Year.

While City suffered Grand Final heartbreak, Glover was one of their most impressive players on the day, making eight key saves throughout the 120-minute contest.

“Despite his young age, Tom has shown the enormous talent he has in a short period of time and I am sure he will continue to develop and take his game to another level with Melbourne City in the years to come," Melbourne City FC Director of Football Michael Petrillo said.

Glover and City are next in A-League action when they host cross-town rivals Western United on Saturday.
