Aussies abroad weekend preview: Rogic eyeing Scottish title with Celtic

A number of Australian World Cup hopefuls are in action across Europe and the rest of the World over the coming days, and one of them could be lifting a Championship trophy.

Here's our preview of the Aussies hoping to impress Caltex Socceroos boss Bert van Marwijk over the weekend.

A TROPHY FOR TOM?

Tommy Rogic could get his hands on some silverware this weekend.

The Caltex Socceroos playmaker and his Celtic team-mates will claim the Scottish Premier League title for a seventh straight season if they beat Rangers at Celtic Park on Sunday evening (AEST).

Celtic are currently ten points clear of both Rangers and Aberdeen with four matches remaining.

Elsewhere, Jamie Maclaren will be keen to get his name on the scoresheet once more as Hibernian play host to Kilmarnock.

PREMIER LEAGUE SURVIVAL THE TARGET FOR MOOY AND RYAN

Mat Ryan and Aaron Mooy will look to ease their respective Premier League sides' relegation fears.

Mooy's Huddersfield are six points clear of the relegation zone with four games to play and host eighth-placed Everton on Sunday morning.

Ryan's Brighton and Hove Albion are one point and three places higher in the relative safety of 13th place and travel to face seventh-placed Burnley.

CHAMPIONSHIP WRAP

Mile Jedinak and Aston Villa have secured their place in the Championship playoffs and still have an outside chance of automatic promotion to the Premier League with two games remaining.

Jedinak's Villa are currently four points behind second-placed Cardiff City and host sixth-placed Derby County on Sunday morning, looking to stretch their winning run to four games.

Millwall also remain in the mix for a playoff spot, currently sitting seventh and facing a crucial contest on Sunday morning.

James Meredith will travel to fifth-placed Middlesbrough who are just three points ahead of the London club. Tim Cahill is suspended for the Lions.

Bailey Wright's Bristol City still have an outside chance of sneaking into the top six, but matters are out of their own hands.

Tenth-placed City travel to Nottingham for their penultimate game, knowing they need to win and have several other results go their way to stay alive in the playoff hunt.

By contrast, there's little riding on the remaining two games for Jackson Irvine's Hull City.

His side are safe from the pressures of relegation with the Tigers at home to Cardiff City.

REST OF EUROPE

In Germany, Mat Leckie will be hoping to continue his goalscoring form when Hertha Berlin host Augsburg in the Bundesliga.

In 2.Bundesliga, Robbie Kruse's Bochum are at home to FC Erzgebirge on Saturday (AEST) with only a win enough to keep their promotion hopes alive.

Elsewhere, Danny Vukovic's Genk will be eyeing off another big scalp when they play host to league-leaders Club Brugge on Saturday (AEST). Genk knocked off reigning Champions Anderlecht 2-1 at home last weekend.

In Switzerland, Trent Sainsbury's Grasshopper Zurich travel to tackle bottom-placed Lausanne Sport.

Fellow Aussie Tomi Juric will be in action when FC Luzern face league-leaders Young Boys away from home.

Mitch Langerak will start in goals as Nagoya Grampus travel to FC Tokyo, while Milos Degenek's Yokohama F Marinos are at home to Kashima Antlers.
