Aussies Abroad: Vukovic's Genk cruise to another win in Belgium

Caltex Socceroos goalkeeper Danny Vukovic remains in excellent form heading towards next month’s AFC Asian Cup after another superb display in Belgium on Monday morning (AEST).

Vukovic kept another clean sheet as his Genk side prevailed 2-0 on the road over AS Eupen.

The visitors did all the damage inside the first 20 minutes with Tanzanian attacker Mbwana Samatta scoring a brace to make the result safe before the break.

The Aussie gloveman was largely untroubled over the 90 minutes, making three saves to ensure a comfortable afternoon for Philippe Clement’s men.

The victory continues Genk’s dream season as they have opened up a seven-point lead at the top of the Belgium top flight, while the club is also into the last 32 of the Europe League.

Vukovic is one of three goalkeepers – along with Mat Ryan and Mitch Langerak - in Graham Arnold’s Caltex Socceroos squad for their AFC Asian Cup title defence in the UAE.

The Caltex Socceroos open their campaign with a clash against Jordan on January 6.
