Awer Mabil’s hopes of clinching the Danish Superliga title with FC Midtjylland suffered a blow after a 2-1 loss to Brondby earlier this morning.
Marc Dal Hende opened the scoring early for Midtjylland, but a swift equaliser from Simon Hedlund and a deflected winner from Jens Martin Gammelby ensures Mabil’s side trail leaders Copenhagen by eleven points with five matches of the season remaining.

Midtjylland were lively in their attempts to regain a second-half lead, and Caltex Socceroos attacker Mabil looked the most likely to restore the advantage.
Mabil, 23, first fired Frank Onyeka’s cross over at the back post, before drawing a fine stop from Brondby keeper Marvin Schwäbe.
The loss is Midtjylland’s first home ground defeat for over a year, and the first time they have lost consecutive Danish Superliga matches in two years.
Midtjylland meet Brondby again in the Danish Cup Final on May 18.
