Aussies Abroad: Stalemate in Washington as familiar face keeps the Reign at bay

It was a 0-0 stalemate in Washington DC with four Aussies involved as Washington Spirit faced off against Reign FC in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

Westfield Matilda Amy Harrison started for the home side before being replaced at half-time as the Spirit sought to hold on against a rampant Reign outfit.

Sydney FC goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe played a big part in keeping the visitors at bay, pulling off nine saves including a crucial one late on to deny midfielder Elise Kellond-Knight.

Fellow Westfield Matilda Chloe Logarzo entered the match for the Spirit in the 66th minute while Lydia Williams was an unused substitute for the Reign.

Elsewhere in the United States there will be a host of Westfield Matildas involved when Houston Dash welcome Orlando Pride to Texas at 8.00 AM on Monday (AEST).

Meanwhile in Spain, Alex Chidiac and Atletico Madrid need only a point from their match against Sociedad to claim a third straight La Liga Femenina title.

The match kicks off at 9.00 PM on Sunday (AEST).
