Aussies Abroad: Socceroos shape up for top of the table clashes

Ahead of October's international window, our Socceroos are preparing for a big weekend of action with their clubs. 

As always, there will be plenty of Australian internationals in action this weekend all over Europe, Asia and North America - with many taking part in top-of-the-table clashes this time around. 

Starting in Scotland, where league top scorer Martin Boyle will be in action when Hibernian travel to a hostile Ibrox to face Rangers on Monday morning, with kick-off scheduled for 12am (AEST).

A win will be enough for Hibs to leapfrog Rangers into top spot.

Elsewhere in Scotland, Tom Rogic’s Celtic face a tough trip to Aberdeen which is shaping up to be a crunch match for both sides.

Celtic’s up and down start to the season has drawn mixed reviews and three points are a clear goal when things get underway at Pittodrie Stadium on Monday at 12am (AEST).

Over in the English Championship, defender Harry Souttar’s Stoke City host league leaders West Brom with the Potters eyeing a spot in the top four.

Fullback Callum Elder’s Hull City will be looking to escape the relegation zone when they host 12th-placed Middlesbrough at 12am (AEST) on Sunday.

At the same time (Sunday 12am AEST), midfielder Riley McGree’s Birmingham City will be mounting a charge towards the top six when they seek victory over two-time European Cup winners Nottingham Forest.

A tough trip to sixth-placed Blackburn Rovers awaits Blackpool’s Kenny Dougall who will be looking to add to their three-match unbeaten streak.

Over in Greece, just one point separates James Jeggo’s Aris Thessaloniki from Apollo Spyrini with the sides due to face each other on Sunday morning at 3:30am (AEST).

In the fourth round of the Greek Cup, goalkeeper Paul Izzo’s Xanthi FC travel to Proodeftiki on Wednesday evening at 11pm (AEST).

To Denmark, where table-topping FC Midtylland host AGF with speedster Awer Mabil looking to play his part for the Danish Superliga leaders on Monday morning at 12 am (AEST).

Elsewhere in Denmark, Lawrence Thomas’ SønderjyskE will be looking to register its third league win when they travel to Aab on Sunday evening at 10pm (AEST).

A massive game looms for Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Adjin Hrustic, who faces European heavyweights Bayern Munich.

The 25-year-old will travel to the iconic Allianz Arena to face the Bundesliga champions on Monday morning at 1:30am (AEST).

In the 2. Bundesliga, Jackson Irvine will be hoping his side FC St. Pauli end the round on top of the ladder which is possible if they attain three points on Sunday evening at 9:30pm (AEST) against Dynamo.

In Belgium, defender Trent Sainsbury’s seventh placed KV Kortrijk host eleventh placed Charleroi on Sunday morning at 12:15am (AEST) with just one point separating the sides.

In the Belgian second division, Daniel Arzani’s Lommel SK travel to top-of-the-table Westerlo on Sunday morning at 4am.

Imposing center-back Milos Degenek will take the field for Red Star Belgrade when hosting Metalac with a win for Red Star giving them the chance to reclaim top spot on the ladder. Kick-off is Monday morning at 4am (AEST).

Ever-popular goalkeeper Danny Vukovic's NEC Nijmegen travel to Fortuna Sittard on Sunday morning at 5am (AEST), while in France’s Ligue 2, Denis Genreau’s Toulouse FC will be looking to further extend its lead at the top with a win against eighteenth placed Amiens SC on Saturday evening at 11pm (AEST).

Finishing in Japan, where attacker Mitchell Duke will be hoping to get his name on the score sheet when Fagiano Okyam travel to Ryukyu on Saturday at 7:30pm (AEST). While fellow striker Adam Taggart’s Cezero Osaka is on the road to J-League battlers Oita Trinita on Sunday at 5pm (AEST).
