Aussies Abroad: Rogic goal helps Celtic into Scottish FA Cup final

Caltex Socceroos Tom Rogic scored a sensational goal to help Celtic crush Old Firm Rivals Rangers to progress to the Scottish FA Cup Final.

In another dominant derby display by the Hoops, Rogic scored the opener on the way to a 4-0 semi-final win at Hampden Park.

The Aussie playmaker gave Celtic the lead midway through the first half when he received the ball in the box, danced past Ross McCrorie before rolling a calm finish beyond Wes Foderingham.

It was the perfect start for Brendan Rodgers’ men and came less than 10 minutes after a bizarre moment caused the match to be stopped.

Dozens of balloon released by spectators blew onto the pitch, with the referee halting play and instructing the players to burst them all.

It was the only thing that could stop Celtic as Callum McGregor doubled the lead seven minutes before the break.

The Hoops then booked their spot in the final with two more goals in the second half, both from the penalty spot from Olivier Ntcham and Moussa Dembele.

Rogic, who was substituted after an hour with the result safe at 3-0, has now scored in three Old Firm Derbies this season.

Celtic will take on Motherwell in the FA Cup final next month.

Elsewhere, Tomi Juric played the last 26 minutes as his FC Luzern slumped to a shock 1-0 loss at home against Sion.

In Turkey, Aziz Behich played a full game and picked up a yellow card in Bursaspor’s 2-1 loss at Goztepe.

But there were wins for a couple of Aussies in the Eredivisie in the Netherlands.

Keeper Brad Jones was in goal as Feyenoord had too much class for FC Utrecht, winning 3-1 in Rotterdam while Ajdin Hrustic started as his FC Groningen overcame Roda JC 2-1.
